Mettler worked in the commercial logo & ad design field before beginning his comics career as a digital colorist. Since joining Jolly Roger Studio in 2001, his work has been featured by every major company in the industry.
Past projects have included Ex Machina, Supernatural: Origins, & Nightmare on Elm Street, published by WildStorm Productions; JSA: The Unholy Three, H.E.R.O., Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight, & JSA: Generation Lost, published by DC Comics; Spider-Man: With Great Power, Iron Man, X-Men, & the Daredevil movie style guide, published by Marvel Comics; Conan for Dark Horse Comics; Witchblade & Down, published by Top Cow Productions; War Heroes, published by Image Comics; 25 to Life, published by 12 Gauge Comics; & a motion comic for the Predators DVD special features, produced by 20th Century Fox.
Current projects include both Masters of War & The Further Adventures of the Whistling Skull, for DC Comics, various digitally painted character model sheets & children’s activity book covers for Disney/Marvel Comics, & Buffy the Vampire Slayer covers for Dark Horse Comics.
Mettler was nominated in 2005 for an Eisner Award as “Best Colorist,” & won an Eisner Award the same year, along with Brian K. Vaughan, Tony Harris, & Tom Feister, for “Best New Series” on Ex Machina, published by WildStorm Productions.
He currently lives in the woods of Macon, GA, with his wife, Amy, & their attack cat, Gozer the Gozerian.
